2016 ArtPrize Exhibit (Sept. 21 - Oct. 8)

[HAS HEART] is proud to participate in our 5th annual ArtPrize exhibit. This year's HERO[series] exhibit features the powerful collaboration of Detroit-area Veterans partnered with AIGA Detroit artists. In June, the five Veterans and artists worked together at the Swords Into Plowshares gallery in downtown Detroit with the mission to share each Veteran’s story through art, design, and fashion. Through the creative  process, they brainstormed and conceptualized design ideas to share each Veteran’s story. Their designs are tangible results of a Veteran’s voice, able to speak about their experiences through this creative collaboration via an unlikely pairing of Veteran + artist.  The exhibit is open to the public daily from 12pm-8pm and it located at the Veterans Memorial Park in downtown...

HERO Update: Kathy Champion & Artist: MAKE & CO.

Her design (Best Damn Lemonade) shares her remarkable story of overcoming life's obstacles while maintaining a positive attitude by making the "best damn lemonade" you can when life gives you lemons. But that's just a snapshot of Kathy Champions' story, which has continued to be remarkable since she participated in the 2012 HERO[series] project. WELCOME TO THE "NEW" [HAS HEART]

For those we have supported our organization since "Day 01," when we began as an idea to bridge the gap between the military world and the creative world back in 2011, you may have noticed some changes. The biggest "little" difference is that we have since simplified from [Fashion Has Heart] to be better known as [HAS HEART]. Our mission and purpose hasn't changed -- our focus is still centered on empowering and bettering veterans through the mediums of art, design, and fashion -- just our name and brand trademarks have been updated.  As a volunteer-based, registered non-profit organization, we're always a Work-In-Progress, so you'll continue to see improvements as we grow.
