Five local U.S. Veterans, including four Vietnam-era vets, were paired with five AIGA West Michigan member artists. Utilizing “The Studio” at A.K. Rikk’s, [HAS HEART] partnered with Herman Miller dealer, MarxModa, to transform the space into a pop-up collaborative workshop. During those two days, the Veterans shared their personal war stories, both the good and the bad, with their artist partner.
Through the creative process, they brainstormed and conceptualized design ideas in order to share that veteran’s story with their fellow civilians. The following designs are tangible results of a Veteran’s voice, able to speak about their experience through the uncommon pairing of Artist + Veteran as part of the annual [HAS HEART] HERO[series].
