MEANING BEHIND THE DESIGN:

When life gave her lemons, U.S. Army Colonel Kathy Champion learned to make the best damn lemonade she could make. After years of dedicated and decorated service for her country, Champions’ numerous injuries began to take their toll, eventually leaving her blind. Despite her circumstances, Champion has not slowed down. She climbs mountains, travels the world, goes sailing, bikes, runs marathons, and so much more. Her life’s daily motto is simple, “In all you do, be a Champion!”
  • The bee symbolizes Champion, known to her platoon as “Queen Bee.”
  • The red, white, and blue umbrella represents her service and patriotic duties.
  • Embedded within the slice of lemon is the the Bronze Star Champion received for her acts of heroism.
  • The yellow underside of the umbrella represents her civilian transition upon moving to sunny Florida after serving.
  • The seven ice cubes represent the seven explosions Champion survived.
  • “Best Damn Lemonade” is Champion’s passionate twist of the classic saying, “When life gives you lemons, make the best damn lemonade you can make.”
  • “In all you do… be a Champion!”
